      <description>Free AI coding credits come from four places: a provider trial balance, a student or startup programme, a vendor free tier, and an ad-funded grant. The first two are one-time and expire, the third is rarely denominated in credits at all, and only the fourth returns. The word credit now covers four incompatible units with no exchange rate between them, and only a unit tied to tokens can say what a balance finishes. Every grant priced in whole agent tasks, including the rows that come out at zero.</description>
