A free AI coding agent with no credit card

Signing up for Clixad takes a GitHub account and an eight-character code. There is no payment step, no trial that turns into a subscription, and no card on file. The free models, the offer wall and the smaller grants all work without one.

What signing up asks for

  1. npm install -g clixad, on Node 20 or newer.
  2. clixad login prints an eight-character code and opens github.com/login/device. You paste the code there and approve.
  3. The account is created on that first login, with 25,000 credits in it.

From GitHub we ask for your user id, your login name and your email address. No password is created, no API key is asked for, and no payment details are requested anywhere in that flow.

What works without a card

The free models. GPT-5 Nano, Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite, DeepSeek V4 Flash, Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite and Kimi K2.5 cost nothing up to 24,000 credits of usage a day, about 49 turns on DeepSeek V4 Flash, the model a new account starts on. The allowance sits inside a daily budget shared by everybody, so on a busy day it can end sooner.

The offer wall. When you want more, /earn opens offers in your browser. Credits land on completion, and a screenout, where a survey ends part way with nothing or a small bonus, is the most common outcome of starting a survey.

The smaller grants. A daily streak, rating an answer when the terminal asks, and a referral once somebody you invited completes their first offer. None of them involves a payment.

What you do see is advertising in the terminal while a model call runs: one line marked Ad, and up to two more places marked the same way. Nothing you type takes part in choosing them, and CLIXAD_SPONSOR=0 stops every request for them.

The one place a card can come up

Buying credits. It is optional and never required. /buy in the terminal, or the credits section at the bottom of the offer wall, shows you the pack and the price, asks you to confirm, and then opens Stripe Checkout. Stripe's page shows the payment methods available to you, and your payment details are entered there. We neither see nor store them. Each pack is one payment, from $5 for 500,000 credits, with nothing recurring.

Other tools that skip the card

Clixad is not the only one. Cursor's Hobby plan says "No credit card required", and Gemini CLI's free tier runs on a personal Google account. Both are on the vendors' own pages, read on 29 September 2026. A card-free signup answers half of the question, though: a tool can skip the card and still expect you to bring your own API key. FAQ

Is there a free AI coding agent with no credit card?

Clixad asks for a GitHub sign-in and nothing else. A new account starts with 25,000 credits, five models are free up to 24,000 credits of usage a day, and no payment details are requested unless you choose to buy credits.

Will Clixad ask for a card later?

Only if you decide to buy a credit pack. Buying is optional, and the checkout is Stripe's page, where you pick a payment method. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel.

What does Clixad get from my GitHub account?

Your GitHub user id, your login name and your email address. They are how we recognise your account, and the privacy policy sets out the rest.

What happens when the free credits run out?

The free models come back at 00:00 UTC. Before then you can earn credits by completing an offer in your browser, credited on completion, or buy a pack if you want to.
